These large grassbirds can be found throughout the Philippines in rice fields, grasslands, and open country. They like to perch on tall grass blades, exposed branches, and electrical wires. Their diet most consists of insects, grubs, and other small invertebrates. The IUCN lists them as least concern with the population trend currently unknown.
