These medium-sized doves are fairly common and can be found throughout the Philippines in habitats such as open country, farms, and forest edges. Juveniles differ from adults by appearing duller in color and lacking the spotted collar that gives these doves their name. They forage for fallen fruit and seeds on the ground. The IUCN lists them as least concern with what appears as an increase in their population trend.
